FEPOL is a private-law student entity that represents ESPOL students. Founded in Guayaquil on April 29, 1960, FEPOL is pluralistic, non-profit, independent, and does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, social condition, ideology, sexual orientation, or physical/mental/sensory limitations.

What is FEPOL?
The Federation of Polytechnic Students of the Coast (FEPOL) is a student organization of ESPOL, founded in Guayaquil on April 29, 1960. Through its Board of Directors (Junta de Directorio), FEPOL works to support the cultural and intellectual development of its members, strengthen student bonds, and contribute to uplifting the professions of science, engineering, and technology through practical and effective work. FEPOL also promotes the institutionalization of student participation in ESPOL’s co-government bodies (organs of co-government).
To strengthen its national impact, FEPOL is an active member of the Federation of Polytechnic Students of Ecuador (FEPE), working alongside polytechnic institutions nationwide to advocate for student rights. Learn more about the national network (FEPE) here.
SHARED GOVERNANCE IN ACTION
Who are the student representatives?
Student representatives are students elected to serve as members of ESPOL’s co-government bodies. FEPOL’s Extended Board (Junta de Directorio Ampliado) includes, among its members, the student representatives to the Polytechnic Council (Consejo Politécnico).

DUTIES OF STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES

Safeguard the aspirations of the students they represent.

Submit a written semiannual report to FEPOL’s Board of Directors, addressed to the President, on their representative activities.

Consult with FEPOL’s Board of Directors on issues affecting student life at ESPOL.

Work closely with FEPOL’s Board of Directors and participate with voice and vote in FEPOL’s Extended Board.

Respond, when requested, before the General Student Assembly of Science & Engineering or the General Student Assembly of Technologies, as applicable.

WHO CAN RUN FOR PRESIDENT OR VICE PRESIDENT

Be Ecuadorian.

Be an active member in full exercise of rights.

Have been a regular student in the academic term prior to the election.

Have completed at least two levels of study at ESPOL (more than 17 approved courses).

Comply with Article 9 of the ESPOL Elections Regulation for Student Representatives of Faculties and Institutes.

Elections for FEPOL authorities are held after two years of service of the outgoing Board of Directors, in a single electoral process, by secret vote of all active members in full exercise of their rights.
